The Grand Industrial Zone is situated in the northeast of Shenzhen, and the planned coverage of its central area is 38km2. The Grand Industrial Zone is oriented toward hi-tech industries and advanced technology industries, supported by tertiary industries including the finance, real estate, trade, and service industries. There are four planned bases including electronic information, equipment manufacturing, biomedical and export processing zones.
Shenzhen Export Processing Zone is a special closed area supervised by customs and approved by the State Council. The Zone is situated at the west of the Grand Industrial Zone, covering an enclosed area of 3km2. It will be built into an important base for foreign exporting and foreign currency exchange.
